Jazz on a Sunday moves to the Flying Horse

Date published: 09 July 2007

Jazz on a Sunday, Rochdale’s jazz concert club, have been forced to move their gigs out of the Broadfield Hotel due to financial constraints and will hold their last concert there on Sunday 15 July, featuring Roger Marks’ Armada Jazz Band. Fortunately the club has already secured a new venue and gigs will commence at the Flying Horse Hotel in Rochdale town centre on 29 July.

The Jazz on a Sunday committee, at a recent meeting, thanked the Management and Staff of the Broadfield Hotel for the friendship and service that they had provided to the club.

The committee hopes that the new venue at the Flying Horse Hotel in Rochdale Town Hall Square will be equally as good when it hosts its first concert on Sunday 29 July when the ‘Flying Horse All Stars’ will be performing in the ‘Mystique’ nightclub suite.

The new venue is a completely refurbished room with air conditioning and punters will be able to take advantage of pub bar prices on all beers, wines and spirits and will be able to park free of charge on the Town Hall Square car park.

All jazz night customers can enjoy a night in the Flying Horse’s en-suite rooms for just £20, including a full English breakfast.

In a press release the Jazz on a Sunday Committee said: “The committee feel that we have got a good venue and urge you to come along and make Sunday jazz nights a huge success, especially our opening with a band comprising what are regarded as some of the top traditional jazz musicians in the North of England. The title ‘All Stars’ really is no misnomer!”

If you can not make it on the night, remember to read regular Jazz on a Sunday reporter Tony Sheldon’s review of the first night in the Flying Horse on Rochdale Online.
