St Clement, Spotland

Date published: 02 November 2009

This Sunday (8 November), Remembrance Sunday: at our 10.30am Sung Holy Communion service we hold our annual Remembrance service and the two minutes silence in recognition of all who have died in wars or conflicts and those who suffer as a result of war. We also remember those who currently serve in our armed forces and all who work for justice, reconciliation and peace.

Tuesday 10 November: Evening prayer at 7.30pm

Thursday 12 November: 9.30am Said Holy Communion

Sunday 22 November: at our 10.30am Eucharist we celebrate our Patron Saint, St Clement. He was Bishop of Rome late in the first century and was executed for his faith by being tied to an anchor and thrown into the sea.

On this day we also celebrate our annual Gift Day when we try to give extra monies for the care, work and worship of our parish. This year the monies are going towards a new carpet in the hall and decoration of the church.

Advent Prayer Group
Meetings will be held each Wednesday leading up to Christmas exploring different ways of praying on an Advent theme, through music, the Scriptures, pictures and silent meditation, starting on Wednesday 25 November. For further information please contact David, one of our Readers.
