Over 200 people attended the Action Mesothelioma Day (27 February) event in Manchester including sufferers of mesothelioma and their families from Rochdale.
A poignant 8 minute film that has been produced - 'Mesothelioma - The Human Face of an Asbestos Epidemic' - was shown. It is the story of the disease told by those with first-hand knowledge of it.
The film was also played to MPs at Westminster and on giant screens in seven British cities.
Save Spodden Valley Coordinator Jason Addy said: "At the time we were editing the film the controvesial Invent/TBA planning application was being decided. The apparent lack of awareness of asbestos cancer displayed by some members of the planning committee was astonishing. I sincerely hope that everybody who has any sort of responsibility for planning, regeneration and health issues for Rochdale takes the time to watch this short film."
Messages of support have been received by Save Spodden Valley from India, Australia, the US and Canada.
