Date published: 14 October 2010

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by three men as she waked along a path in Freehold.

Sometime between 10.20pm and 10.50pm on Friday 8 October 2010, the girl  was walking along a pathway off Ann Street, Freehold, when she was approached by three men who sexually assaulted her.

The men are described as Asian, aged between 25 and 30 years old and between 5ft 7in to 6ft tall.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Milk Street/Ann Street/Milkstone Road areas or Nye Bevan House/Maclure Road car park between 10.20pm and 11.15pm on Friday 8 October 2010.

Detective Constable Janice Cruttwell, of Rochdale CID, said: "This was a nasty assault on a girl who was out alone and we are doing all we can to identify those responsible.

"Incidents such as this are rare and will understandably cause concern in the community so I would urge anyone with information about those responsible to come forward.

"I am especially keen to hear from anyone who was in the area on Friday evening to contact police."

Anyone with information is asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8443, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
