Bus diversions on Drake Street

GMPTE is advising passengers of changes to some bus and school services along Drake Street while work for the new Rochdale Metrolink line gets underway.

Starting on 4 January for approximately 4 months, the lower half of Drake Street will have a diversion and one-way system in place, with traffic being redirected along Molesworth Street.

Bus services that will be diverted are:
6 (Kirkholt - Rochdale), 24 (Rochdale - Manchester), 181 (Rochdale - Manchester), 182 (Rochdale – Manchester. Sundays only), 409 (Ashton-under-Lyne - Rochdale), and 435 (Buckstones - Rochdale), which will continue along the normal route to the Oldham Rd/Wood St junction, then turn right into Wood St, then straight across into Molesworth St, continue along Molesworth St and then turn left into Smith St and into Rochdale bus station.

Services 17 (Rochdale - Manchester), 17A (Rochdale - Manchester), 442 (Rochdale - Sudden), 448 (Rochdale - Kirkholt/Castleton), 471 (Rochdale - Bolton) and 719 (Hopwood Hall - Rochdale), which will continue along the normal route to the Drake St/Milnrow Rd junction, then right into Milnrow Rd, turn left into Molesworth St, continue along Molesworth St and then turn left into Smith St and then into Rochdale bus station.

Services 56 (North Manchester General Hospital - Rochdale), 58 (Rochdale – Bury), 182 (Rochdale – Manchester. Monday – Saturday), 451 (Peppermint Bridge - Rochdale), 452 (Littleborough - Rochdale) and 462 (Ladyhouse - Rochdale), which will continue along the normal route to the Milnrow Rd/Molesworth St junction, then turn right into Molesworth St, continue along Molesworth St and then turn left into Smith St and the into Rochdale bus station.

School services that will be diverted are:
Oulder Hill High School: the 881 morning service will take the normal route to Drake Street/ Milnrow Road junction, then through Milnrow Road, Molesworth Street, Smith Street, Rochdale Bus Station then along normal route.

St Cuthbert’s RC High School: 409 afternoon service will take the normal route to Oldham Rd/Wood St junction, then turn right into Wood St, then straight across into Molesworth St, continue along Molesworth St and then turn left into Smith St and into Rochdale bus station.

St Cuthbert’s RC High School: 441 afternoon service as normal route to Oldham Rd/Wood St junction, then turn right into Wood St, then straight across into Molesworth St, continue along Molesworth St and then turn left into Smith St and into Rochdale bus station and then as normal route.

St Cuthbert’s RC High School: 867 afternoon service as normal route to Oldham Rd/Wood St junction, then turn right into Wood St, then straight across into Molesworth St, continue via Molesworth Street, John Street, Whitworth Road then as normal route.

St Cuthbert’s RC High School: 950 afternoon service will be diverted, and passengers should contact Lancashire County Council’s School Transport Enquiry Line on 01772 534 588, or email schooltransport@lancashire.gov.uk.

Matthew Moss High School: 471 afternoon service as normal route to Drake Street/ Milnrow Road junction, then via Milnrow Road, Molesworth Street, Smith Street and then to Rochdale Bus Station.

Kingsway Park High School: 434 afternoon service as normal route to Drake Street/ Milnrow Road junction then via Milnrow Road, Molesworth Street, Smith Street to Rochdale Bus Station.

Information will be available at Rochdale bus station advising passengers of changes to services, and also by calling Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 (Calls cost 10p a minute. Mobile and landline networks may charge more. Lines are open from 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 8pm at weekends.)
