Rotary club celebrates 77th anniversary

Date published: 10 February 2011

Members of the Rotary Club of Middleton have celebrated their 77th anniversary in style.

The group marked their 77th Charter with a meal and an evening of entertainment at the Norton Grange Hotel on Friday (4 February 2011).

Members, honoured guests and friends of the Rotary Club joined together to celebrate.
Two special awards were presented on the evening to members of the Rotary club.

The first, the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, was presented to the club’s treasurer, Keith Trinnaman.

The Paul Harris Fellowship Award is used in Rotary as a recognition of a special contribution to Rotary.

Mr Trinnaman has been a member of Rotary since 1991 and has held several roles, including secretary, treasurer and president.

Mr Trinnaman not only keeps the clubs finances in order but he also produces the club bulletins and monitors and reports on the clubs annual plans.

On presenting the award, President Janice Powell, said it was a “well deserved token of recognition.”

The second award, the Avenues of Service Citation was presented to Rotarian Norman Wellens.

The award recognises the efforts made by a Rotarian across all five avenues of service which are: club, community, vocational, international and new generation.

Ms Powell said: “The contributions of this person are far too numerous to mention here but suffice it to say that he never stops thinking of others before himself, nothing is too much trouble for him and he is a true driving force when it comes to club activities.”
