Rochdale Environmental Action Group

The Rochdale Environmental Action Group held it first AGM on 24 October, 2012, at Castlemre Community Centre, Tweedale Street, Rochdale. In which the following office bearers were elected.

  • Chairperson: Christine Mathewson
  • Vice Chairperson: Caroline Lucas
  • Secretary: Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE
  • Assistant Secretary: George Lee
  • Treasurer: Naeem Khan
  • Neighbourhood Liaison: Sister Noel
  • Publicity Secretary: Andrew Wastling

Christine Mathewson thanked everyone for the trust reposted in the team. She made a presentation about the aims and objectives of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group and outlined the provisions of the constitition. She also mentioned the achievements of the group since it was established on 30 June 2012 and said that since then the group has been cleaning the streets in Milkstone and Deeplish every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon and has collected more than 200 bags, has worked with the councillors, Environment Management Services and various other organisations.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE conducted the eection of the office bearers and mentioned the nominations received.

Councillor Terry Linden nominated all members en block, which was supported by all members present.
