Heywood Christmas Festival

Heywood Christmas Festival on Saturday (17 November 2012) was a huge success.

There was a funfair at Hill St Car park and outside the Phoenix Centre was variety of Charity Stalls and a Miniature Railway with mini museum. Inside St Lukes was the Youth Links Christmas Concert included, Heywood Youth Link, Heykids, Lisa Jayne Dance and Fitness, The State.

The Youth Bus visited Heywood and youngster could try there skills at the Hula Hooping Workshop and Bury FC Speedball.

Mike Goldrick's and The Market had a host of family activities including live music, children's entertainment and festive food and drink.

Whitworth Vale and Healey Brass Band brought a festive feel to the proceedings throughout the day.

The Lantern Parade was the highlight of the day, it included four floats, lead by Santa on Mike Goldrick's float with Lisa Jayne Dance and Fitness float, Heywood Magic Market Christmas float with Heywood Youth Link, St James Brownies Choir Singers Float and Sandon House The Nutcracker.

Also in the Parade Handmade Samba Band, Roch Valley Raiders, Lia Baron Hula Hooper with LED Hoop, Churches Together dressed children in the nativity clothing were joined by hundreds of families parading their home made or bought lanterns through the town.

After the Lantern Parade there was the Lights Switch On with St Luke's bells ringing.

Christmas Party at St James on Sunday was also really successful, packed with Heywood families.

The fun packed weekend was organised by Heywood Business Group in conjunction with Heywood Township and brought together the whole community of Heywood with a very festive Christmas celebration which was enjoyed by young and old alike.
