New train service

Date published: 09 May 2013

In May 2014 a new hourly rail service will start running from Blackburn, Accrington and Burnley to Manchester via Todmorden and Rochdale.

STORM, the local Rail Users Group welcome this new service but whilst agreeing that speed and overall journey time must be kept attractive to the longer distance passengers, STORM believes that if this new service were to call at Littleborough, it would provide a much needed three trains an hour service from the town to Rochdale and Manchester as well as addressing the uneven gaps in the present timetable.

STORM believes that West Yorkshire interests may prefer the new service to call at Todmorden instead of Littleborough, yet the number of rail passengers from Todmorden to Rochdale and Manchester is more than amply served by its present three trains an
hour.

STORM would like to hear from Littleborough residents, councillors and business organisations who want to support the idea of additional trains serving Littleborough.
