Remembrance parades held across the Borough

Parades and services were held across the borough on Sunday (10 November) to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Heywood held a parade starting at Tower Street at 10:40am. The parade then went along St James’ Street, Bridge Street, Market Street, Market Place and Hind Hill Street before heading into Heywood Memorial Gardens.

Once at the gardens, a remembrance service was held for those in attendance. After the service the parade marched from Hind Hill Street, via Pine Street, Hornby Street, and Church Street were the parade stopped for a salute. The parade then marched back up Market Place, Market Street, Bridge Street and St James’s Street.

The parade through Littleborough started at 10:30am and went from Hare Hill Park to the Cenotaph. Between 11.00am and 11:02am, a two minutes silence was held.

Residents in Middleton assembled facing the Harbord Harbord on Long Street before the parade set off at 10:15am to Middleton Remembrance Gardens. A service was then held at the gardens from 10:45am.

A parade in Milnrow took place from the clock tower to the Cenotaph with a two minutes silence being held at 11.00am.
