An Arts for Health and Wellbeing Achievements Awards Event on 2 March at MAMC.

The event featured multicultural artists reading poetry from Just Poets, Andrew singing cover songs, Sagir Ahmed from Pakistan playing the Dhol, Razwan Sarwar on keyboard, International singer Sanyogita Kumari, Free Mehndi, face painting, make up, information services by Rochdale Training, Link4Life, Rochdale Multifaith Partnership, Asian Women’s Project, Youth Service, Psychological Therapies, Rochdale Boroughwide User Forum and Petrus Green Gym.

The event organised by Multicultural Arts and Media Centre (MAMC) was attended by the Mayor Peter Rush along with Councillor Wazir Shah, Councillor Martin Burke, Councillor Surinder Biant, Councillor Cecil Biant, Councillor Farooq Ahmed and Councillor Shefali Ahmed.

An audience of 130 people attended throughout the day.

Councillors praised the variety of multicultural activities for all ages and the efforts put in by Multicultural Arts to bring communities together for learning and engaging with the each other.

Mohammed Sarwar, CEO of Multicultural Arts, said: “MAMC has worked extremely hard over the 26 years in providing essential learning and events for all communities. We hope to continue serving the people of the borough."
