Lisa Stansfield’s new single ‘So Be It’ out on 4 May

Date published: 30 March 2014

‘So Be It’ is the third single to be released from Lisa Stansfield’s new album ‘Seven’. After the success of her latest single ‘Carry On’, which she performed live on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny 2013 on BBC Two, Lisa Stansfield is presents us with another seductively soulful tune about accepting who we are and believing in ourselves.

‘So Be It’ is flavoured with the jazzy tones that Lisa is famous for; soothing to the soul and easy on the ears. Her powerful vocals alongside gentle instrumentation and emotive lyrics make for a beautiful third single.

Lisa said: “This song is lovely to me. It's all about being proud of being yourself and holding your head up high. We are what we are. So be it!”

Twenty five years after topping the charts, globally, with the single ‘All Around The World’, and ten years after the release of her last album, Lisa returned to the UK charts in February when ‘Seven’ debuted at number 13.

The Grammy nominated, multi BRIT, Ivor Novello and Silver Clef Award winner - who can boast sales of nearly 20 million records and a string of international top 10 hits – wrote and recorded the album with long-time songwriting partner Ian Devaney, whose credits include The Bodyguard and Indecent Proposal soundtracks.

Lisa said: "‘Seven’ is a soul record and while it is eclectic there is a thread running through it. A lot of the album is about the trap that a woman has got herself into - an unrequited, doomed or mismatched love - and how to get herself out of it…if she can.”

The songs are strong reminders of Lisa’s ability to tell stories and create identifiable characters within her lyrics. She added: “I think we all suffer the same pain, all feel the same happiness, and we all have the same emotions within us. My life isn’t very racy or exciting so I make things up, tell stories. I like telling stories.”

Having reclaimed her place in the album charts, Lisa will return to the UK stage in September with a 10 date UK tour. Starting in Birmingham on 5 September the tour will visit Gateshead, Manchester, Northampton, London, York, Glasgow, Reading and Southend before concluding in Guildford on 17 September. Lisa and her band will be performing songs from ‘Seven’ as well as classic hits from throughout her 25 year career.
