The Rochdale Calendar 2015 photograph competition - your vote is needed

Date published: 15 April 2014

The Springhill Hospice 2015 calendar competition is nearing judgement day. Over 100 photos have been submitted by local people to be included in the 2015 calendar.

Each year the calendar’s cover photograph is chosen by an open competition which is decided by a vote of local residents. From Monday 21 April until Friday 25 April all the photographs will be displayed in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre.

The Hospice is asking local people to visit the display and vote for their favourite photograph. The winning photograph will take pride of place on the cover of the calendar.

A panel will then select 12 photographs, one for each month of the year – reflecting the four seasons and the wealth of fantastic scenery across the Borough.

The winning photographs will be announced when the 2015 calendar is launched at the Hospice on the 21 August. Thereafter the calendar will be on sale at all the Hospice’s shops and at other selected outlets.

The Hospice is already planning the 2016 calendar.

A spokesperson for the Hospice said: "Over the years the majority of submitted photographs have depicted mainly autumn and winter scenes, probably because the competition is run in March. We want you to start taking spring and summer photographs now so there is a better spread of photographs covering the whole of the year for the 2016 calendar."
