Tram and taxi crash in Rochdale

Date published: 08 May 2014

A tram and a taxi crashed in Rochdale this afternoon (Thursday 8 May) causing delays to the Metrolink service.

Metrolink services were stopped for around half an hour after the incident on Maclure Road just before 12:30pm.

The taxi involved partially blocked the tram line outside of the Rochdale Train Station stop forcing services to be delayed until 1.00pm.

Metrolink announced: “Due to a road traffic incident in Rochdale, trams will be terminating at Newbold until further notice. Tram tickets will be accepted on the 181 and 58 bus service.”

It is understood that the line was re-opened at around 1.00pm with passengers being advised of delays whilst services returned to normal.
