Leanne McQue to hold family fun event to help friend whose son has leukaemia

Date published: 17 June 2014

Leanne McQue is planning to hold a family fun event to raise money to help her friend whose son has been diagnosed with a rare form of
leukaemia.

Leanne said: “I thought this kind of event would be good for everybody. My friend’s son is only young so this kind of event seemed to be the best thing to do.”

The event will include a variety of activities such as a bouncy castle, face painting, a cake stall, children’s entertainment, raffles, tombolas and more.

Leanne added: “Since he was diagnosed, she has been unable to work because of the care she is giving to her son so the money would help her with every day things like the house and to help with her daughter.”

Leanne hasn’t set a fundraising total for the event and added: “I want to raise as much money as possible really.”

The fun day will be held on Sunday 6 July from 1.30pm at Mayfield Sports Centre.

“I have been sharing the event on social media as well as on Rochdale Online and it is just about making sure people come along now,” said Leanne.

Leanne has also had support from local businesses with many donating prizes to a raffle. She added: “We have had a lot of support from local businesses, so that has been a big help.”

She added: “I just decided to go for it and thought that we are better off doing this sooner rather than later.”
