Two people have been charged following an investigation into reports of neglect, abuse and poor levels of care at a 79-year-old man’s house.

Khalid Hussain (01/01/1987), of Croxton Avenue, Rochdale and Mohammed Azeem (03/05/1976), of Roch Valley Way, Rochdale have been charged with ill-treating/wilfully neglecting a person without capacity.

They are due before Bury and Rochdale Magistrates Court on 29 August.

It follows an investigation by police in Rochdale into reports that the 79-year-old man, who is from the Rochdale area, was subject to abuse, neglect and poor levels of care by two men employed by a care company.

The man is unable to communicate and has severe physical disabilities and long-standing medical issues.

Unknown offender/s approach a dwelling from the rear alleyway, they enter the property through an insecure rear door. Once inside the offender/s stole two TVs and made off.

Burglary, Haynes Street, Thursday 14 August, 00:50
An unknown male offender approached the premises, jumped over the fence and opened the doors of a container. The man removed property from the container and made off.

Burglary, Sheriff Street, Tuesday 12 August, 22:00 - Wednesday 13 August, 09:00
Unknown offender/s approached the side of the property and climbed over the wall into the back yard. They forced the locks on the shed door and removed a claw hammer and two chisels before making off.

Burglary, Brimrod Lane, Sunday 17 August 01:51
An unknown offender approached the rear of the premises and smashed a ground floor rear window. The offender was disturbed by the victim and made off.

Burglary, Springbank Lane, Wednesday 13 August 15:40 – 17:00
Unknown offender/s gained access to the garden which is secured by high fencing and electric locked gates. Once in the garden they approached the rear of the property and gained access into a ground floor bedroom through an insecure window. An untidy search was conducted and the offender/s stole a safe containing cash and various items of jewellery, before exiting through the kitchen window.

Burglary, Cambridge Avenue, Friday 1 August 06:00 – Wednesday 13 August 17:00
Unknown offender/s approached the victim’s garage and forced open the door and stole property from within.

Burglary, Whitefield Avenue, Tuesday 12 August 14:00 – Thursday 14 August 19:20
An unknown offender approached the rear of an empty property and attempted to prise open the rear door. The offender failed to open the door and so used a brick to smash one of the glass panels in the door. It is unknown if access was gained.

Burglary, East View Mitchell Street, Friday 15 August 04:40
Two unknown offenders approached a property and attempted to gain access through an insecure window; however they are seen by a neighbour and made off.

Burglary, Rooley Moor Road, Sunday 10 August 05:30
An unknown male offender entered the rear yard of the property via the gate and approacheed the insecure rear door. The man opened the door and disturbed the victim’s dog. The dog began to bark and the offender made off. The victim looked out of her window to see the offender closing the rear gate and making off.

Burglary, Blair Street, Sunday 10 August 05:15
An unknown offender forced entry into the communal area of the property. The victim looked through the spy hole in his front door and saw the offender lying on the floor (believed to have fallen down three steps). The offender got up and went upstairs in the block. The offender reappeared at the victim’s front door and was seen to push the door believed with intent to enter. However, no entry was gained and the offender exited the building.

Burglary, Kiln Walk, Sunday 10 August 21:00 – Monday 11 August 05:40
An unknown offender approached the property, reached in through an open ground floor window and removed vehicle keys from the kitchen table. The offender then made off in the victim’s vehicle.

Burglary, Shawclough Way, Saturday 9 August 16:00 – Monday 11 August 11:00
Unknown offender/s entered the property through the rear bedroom window and made an untidy search of the whole property, smashing all the locked internal doors. Offender/s then exited the property.

Unknown offender/s approached the victim’s car and smashed the rear quarter light, and reached in and removed property.

Theft from vehicle – Osborne Street, Sunday 10 August 17:15
Unknown offender/s approached the vehicle and forced the lock on the rear doors; once inside the vehicle the offender/s conducted a search and stole property.

Burglary, Walker Street, Wednesday 13 August 20:34 – 23:00
An unknown offender entered the victim’s unlocked room within the hostel, searched a bedside cabinet and removed property.

Burglary, The Walk, Monday 11 August 15:28
Four offender/s entered the store and attempted to steal a £100 gold plated chain, however they were seen by the shopkeeper and made off.
