Photo of car detectives need to trace in connection with a robbery in Heywood

Date published: 20 August 2014

Detectives investigating an armed robbery in Heywood earlier this year have released the details of a car they need to trace.

The robbery happened on Thursday 12 June 2014, at about 3pm when two men approached a bank on York Street.

They broke into the bank and made threats towards staff and demanded cash.

They then stole cash and ran out of the bank and drove off in a car which was waiting outside.

An investigation was launched and on 4 August 2014 a warrant was executed at an address on Caldbeck Drive in Middleton.

The house was searched and a BMW key was recovered which has since been identified as belonging to a silver BMW 330, with the registration number 4967 ME.

The car was stolen during a burglary in the Denton area on 27 July 2014.

Detective Constable Gary Mills from GMP’s Serious Crime Division said: “We have released the images of the BMW we need to trace in connection with a bank robbery which took place last month.

"Please take a close look at the photographs, the car has distinctive wheels and may be displaying false number plates.

“If you have seen a car which matches this description, please call us with any information.”

Anyone with any information please call police on 101 and quote the reference 1433/120614 or independent charity Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
