The stolen motor home
Thieves have stolen a motor home used by a terminally ill woman from outside of her home in Rochdale.
Steven Melia bought the motor home around two months ago for his wife Christine who was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour in March.
Christine is currently undergoing radiotherapy and can become tired and weak as a result of the treatment and medication. The motor home was bought to allow the couple to get of out of the house on day trips.
Steven said: “It is very important we get this vehicle back. My wife is house bound without it.”
The motor home was stolen from outside of the couple’s home on Crowshaw Drive, Rochdale sometime between 3am and 7.30am on Saturday (30 August) morning.
Steven last saw the motor home at around 3am after waking up in the night. He was then made aware of the theft after a neighbour woke him up at 7.45am asking where the vehicle was.
“There are many words I could use to describe how it feels knowing that someone has stolen the motor home but they wouldn’t be suitable for print. We are just stunned by it,” said Steven.
Steven has been in contact with the police who are investigating the incident.
He added: “The police have said that if they can see it on cameras or they see it parked up then they will give me a call but you never know with something like this. It is a big vehicle so it is not easy to hide but if it is stowed away in a large garage, we may never see it again.”
The motor home cost the family around £10,000.
A mobility scooter used by Christine to help her get around was in the motor home when it was stolen.
Police stated that enquiries are ongoing.
