Springhill Hospice furniture emporium moving to Middleton

Date published: 25 September 2014

Springhill Hospice’s furniture emporium on Oldham Road is on the move to Wood Street, Middleton – the site of their current shop in Middleton.

The shop is constantly full to the brim and has to turn down furniture donations every week due to the lack of storage space.

After having explored all of the alternatives, including refurbishment and trading places with its partner clothing shop a few doors down, the decision to move premises was made.

Springhill Hospice Income Services Manager Sarah Ford said: “It was a difficult decision to make, but we rely on our shops to raise £500,000 a year and with potential to increase that sum, it was a no brainer.

"It's going to be like musical chairs this week as we're moving Oldham Road furniture to our Middleton shop, however, we have be fortunate to acquire new premises, just two doors down in Middleton and we will be moving our clothes and household goods shop into that - still on Wood Street but a much larger, two storey premises.

“Our second shop on Oldham Road will still be open for business selling clothes and household goods

"We are so grateful to the public for all of their generous donations and buying from our charity shops so please don't stop donating. As ever we are more than happy to take donations at any of our shops or just call us on 01706 641790 with larger items and we'll come and collect."
