Date published: 26 February 2015

One hundred and twenty five people have been arrested as part of Operation Olympus, a crackdown on Greater Manchester Police’s most wanted criminals.

The initiative which ran from 3 to 20 February saw more than 250 officers take to the 11 Divisions of Greater Manchester to see that offenders were brought in for their crimes including those wanted on warrant, serious sexual assault, robbery, burglary and domestic abuse.

The arrests also resulted in the recovery of cash, vehicles and jewellery that is suspected to have been stolen.

Superintendent Craig Thompson who is leading on the operation, said: “The results we have had have been great and are a real reflection of the hard work of the teams that have been involved.

“This is just one piece of work we are doing to see that offenders are brought in to pay for their criminality. We have used every tactic at our disposal to ensure that there is no hiding place for criminals.”

Officers including those from the ANPR Intercept team, tactical aid unit and traffic took part in the month of activity.
