Date published: 05 March 2015

A police investigation is currently under way after a deer was found in Norden with its hooves cut off and its innards removed.

It is understood that the animal was found on Caldershaw Road by a dog walker yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 4 March).

A spokesperson for Rochdale police said: “Yesterday we responded to a report of a carcass being found on Caldershaw Road in Norden.

“We can confirm that the carcass found is that of a deer and that environmental health were contacted to remove the carcass.

“At this time it would appear that this is an incident of poaching, and investigations continue to try and find out who is responsible.”
