Four arrested after £800,000 worth of drugs were seized in Rochdale

Date published: 26 March 2015

Four people have been arrested after £800,000 worth of drugs were seized in Rochdale.

On Monday 23 March 2015, police made enquiries at a house on Clement Royds Street and upon returning to their police van they discovered two large bags, containing over £800,000 worth of cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin.

A nearby address was subsequently searched and further class A drugs were recovered and along with approximately £53,000 in cash.

Two men aged 26 and 60 and two women aged 25 and 60 have been arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs and remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Andrew Butterworth of Rochdale division said: “This was an excellent result and an example of how police are determined to come out on top when it comes to drugs within the community.

“Thanks to the hard work of our officers we have managed to keep these drugs off the streets and stop them from causing harm to the local community.

“I would ask anyone who may know where drugs are being sold or produced to contact police. We are determined to take on the dealers but in doing so, need the help of the local community.”

Anyone with information can phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
