Change in the weather, with more unsettled conditions this weekend

A change in the weather, with more unsettled conditions this weekend.

After a good deal of dry weather and warm sunshine for much of the UK over the last few days, there is a change in the forecast as we head towards the weekend.

The change will come from both the south-west and the north-west.

Friday will see cloudier conditions and outbreaks of rain spreading from the south-west, then overnight a separate front will bring cloud and rain from the north across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

This will then edge southwards into northern England during Saturday and Sunday. Ahead of the front, across the rest of England and Wales, there will be a mixture of bright spells and some heavy showers throughout the weekend, with hail and thunder a risk.

Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Chris Tubbs, said: "After a warm and sunny start to April for most of us, the change to cooler, more unsettled weather will be a real feature of the weather this weekend and also into next week. However, this change is fairly typical of spring weather, with some April showers on the way."
