REAG cleans Deeplish area

Date published: 18 May 2015

Members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) cleaned Hare, Maldon, Ipswich, Exeter, Durham, Derby and Gate Streets. They also cleaned the play area at the junction of Maldon and Hare Streets.

Chairwoman Christine Mathewson and the Treasurer Naeem Khan were remembering the days of their childhood and enjoyed the slide.

At the end of clean up, they were invited and provided tea and coffee by sister Noel at her house in Clifford Street.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary, said: “Rochdale is a beautiful town with beautiful natural environment and requires collective responsibility by everyone who resides or has business in the town.

“Flytipping, dumping and littering of our streets, roads and open spaces costing millions of pounds for the Rochdale Borough Council as well as negative images, amongst other, of our beautiful town.

“A small effort to improve environment of the Borough, will bring its beauty back.”
