'Amazing' set of results for students at St Anne’s Academy

Students from St Anne’s Academy in Middleton are celebrating after opening their A level results. 

Caroline Preece, Principal at St Anne’s Academy said: “We mix and match vocational and academic courses to best suit our 45 students. 100% got two or more qualifications, with 86% gaining three or more qualifications.

“We have an amazing set of results, and it is our best year yet.

“25 of our students are going on to University”.

Nikki Ramsey got two BTEC distinctions* in Hospitality and is going to Chester University. Nikki hopes to open her own bakery one day.

Zoe Tomlinson got a C in Art and a distinction* in Media and a merit in forensics. Zoe is going to Staffordshire University to study Art.

Sheridan Redpath, got a distinction* in Health and Social Care, she also got an A in Spanish, which the school are delighted with, and C in History. Sheridan is going to Newcastle University to study languages with the aim of being an interpreter.

Charley Taylor got three distinctions* in Health and Social Care, she is going to Huddersfield University to study Operation Department Practice with the aim of working in operating theatres within the Health Service.

Mozam Moughal gained two distinctions* in Law and Business Studies, B in Sociology and C in History. He is going on to study Law at Manchester University. He hopes to specialise in corporate or human law. Mozam has already done work experience at law firms in Manchester and London.

Elainner Bradshaw got a distinction* in Performing Arts and has a job working in a hairdressing salon in Middleton. Elainner said that she really wants to work in performing arts eventually.

Connor Wilson got two distinctions* in Performing Arts and a distinction* in Health and Social care, he is unsure which university he is going to.

Connor said: “I have had a lovely time at St Anne’s Academy. I have built really strong relationships here with other students and the teachers, there is always help on hand when you need it. I will be sad to leave”.

Maxine Eddleston, Director of Sixth Form at St Anne’s Academy, said: “We are here for the students, we try really hard to to find the best courses for each one of them and tailor each course individually for our students.

“We have a mix of abilities and combine vocational and academic courses which is great for the students.

“We have done performing arts and manufacturing for the first time this year and have 9 students going on to work in the building industry”.
