AST Hampsons supports vulnerable children in a month long will campaign

Date published: 01 October 2015

Rochdale based QualitySolicitors AST Hampsons is joining in a month long campaign for charity Barnardo’s to encourage people to write their wills and consider leaving a legacy for the UK’s most vulnerable children.

According to recent research by QualitySolicitors, 70% of British adults aged over 50 don’t have a valid will, and of those who did create a will before their 50th birthday, almost half admit that a major life change had occurred since they last updated it.

During the whole month of October, AST Hampsons will help people aged over 55 to bring their affairs in order, in the hope that they leave a legacy to Barnardo’s.

Dylan Carroll, Senior Regional Manager at Barnardo’s said: “As the autumn nights draw in, many of us are thankful that we have a safe place to live and family and friends around us. For many of the children, young people and families Barnardo’s supports, this is unfortunately not the reality.

“If you write your will with our partners at QualitySolicitors in October and leave a legacy to Barnardo’s, alongside remembering family and friends, you can ensure that when vulnerable children need support in the future, Barnardo’s will be there for them to turn to.”

Louise Salisbury, Partner at QualitySolicitors AST Hampsons, added: “We are very pleased to be able to support Barnardo’s during will month 2015. We know how important Barnardo’s work is and by doing this, we hope many people can leave a legacy that will help support vulnerable children.

“So if your will needs an update, or you just haven’t got around to writing one yet, now is the time to come along and get some advice.”

Having an up-to-date will is important for many reasons, including preventing a potential family fallout. If you do not have a will when you die, then the law decides who inherits your assets. This could mean partners, children or close friends could find themselves left out.

AST Hampsons opening hours are from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 12.30pm on a Saturday.

Anyone interested in the will scheme can contact Louise Salisbury or Zoe Bell on 01706 653322 for more information.
