The Angel Project Community Hub craft fair

Date published: 11 October 2015

The Angel Project Community Hub, in Middleton, held a craft fair to raise money for the hub, as well as giving the opportunity for local people to get together, on Saturday (10 October).

The craft fair included a variety of stalls such as handmade cards, knitted goods, jewellery and bows.

Sue Scott, who started the project, said: “We have a knitting group that meets on a Monday and it just started to become more then that, so it was embroidery and sewing and knitting, so we decided to branch that out a little and expand to the craft fair.”

Money raised from the craft fair will go back towards the project and will help fund further developments.

Sue added: “I think we will get about £30 from the tables that we have rented to the ladies and then that will come back into the project.”

The Angel Project started as a community café over a year ago and provides practical, emotional and social volunteer support tailored to individual needs and circumstances. The project then developed to the community hub, which is a one-stop shop for people.

“The hub started as an old laundrette and we have completely refurbished it and turned it around. Everything that has been done here has been done by volunteers,” said Sue.

Sue hopes to hold craft fairs every month.
