Scott & Bailey films in Rochdale

Date published: 29 October 2015

Scott & Bailey has been filmed in Rochdale this week.

Filming took place throughout the day on Monday (26 October) in Rochdale Town Hall and Number One Riverside.

Mark Widdup, Director of Neighbourhoods at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Although very different, both Number One Riverside and Rochdale Town Hall are iconic buildings. It is great to see high-profile shows such as Scott & Bailey filming in the borough and really helps show off Rochdale at its best.”

Whilst filming took place at Number One Riverside, Mecca Bingo was utilised to help the film crew throughout filming.

Rick Attwood from Mecca, Rochdale said: “The car park facilities at Mecca Rochdale were used so that the film crew could be catered for without disruption to the area whilst filming was happening.”

ITV recently commissioned a three-part special series of Scott & Bailey, featuring a single crime story.

Starring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp, the three part format will allow the story to unfold with scale and ambition, as Scott & Bailey tackle one of the biggest and darkest cases they have ever had to face.

Speaking about returning to the role of Rachel Bailey, Suranne said: “I’m very excited to be returning to the series as Rachel Bailey and this time to be working alongside Nicola Shindler as an Executive Producer.”

Filming for the series will also take place in Oldham and Manchester.

Executive Producer Nicola Shindler said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Scott & Bailey with an investigation that will have everlasting consequences for the characters. This series is more ambitious and sinister than ever before and the concept of a three part story allows us the opportunity to tackle a story of epic scale and ambition.”

Scott & Bailey has been commissioned for ITV by Director of Drama Commissioning Steve November and Controller of Drama Victoria Fea.

Steve November added: “Scott & Bailey is a firm favourite with ITV viewers who relate to the characters’ busy professional and working lives. We’re thrilled Red Production are reuniting Suranne and Lesley to play the iconic characters so deftly created by Sally Wainwright and Red’s production team.”
