Littleborough Christmas lights switched on by Kara Decoza

Date published: 30 November 2015

Littleborough schoolgirl Kara Decoza endured appalling weather to switch on the Littleborough Christmas Lights on Saturday.

The torrential rain forced the organisers to move two entertainment acts into Littleborough Conservative Club so the show could go on.

Tracey Ray's School Of Dance treated the packed club to a number of great dance routines perfomed by girls from all age groups.  The Rock Choir were in good voice and entertained everyone with a great selection of tunes which got everyone's feet tapping.  Even Santa joined in the fun and danced along to the music with one of his elves.

The rain stopped just in time to allow the Mayor and Mayoress to lead Littleborough Oakenhoof in a parade up Peel Street to the Square for their performance with the Black Nan Band.

The lights were switched on by Kara, from Smithy Bridge Primary School, who won the Littleborough Lions Peace Poster competition.

Littleborough Band then rounded off the evening by playing a selection of Christmas tunes.

Steve Lister, Chairman of Littleborough Events and Associations Forum, said "We were delighted that so many attended and made the event a success after all the disruption caused by the weather.  I understand that many such events across the country had to be cancelled and so we should be proud that Littleborough was able to soldier on to a happy conclusion."
