Rigby's Guardians Bike Club, which was set up in memory of Lee Rigby in 2013, has donated £1,500 to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Gavin Vitler, founder of the club, said: “Our aim is to raise much needed funds for local military charities that help those leaving the armed forces into other work roles and assist with housing young and old and to support families through hard times.

“We hold a memorial each year, hundreds of bikers ride from Rochdale into Middleton to pay tribute to Lee and all our armed forces personnel, we also host a charity weekend for all the family with a bike show, fun fair, trade stands and live music, with proceeds going to the local charity branches of Middleton, Rochdale and Heywood.

“Rigby's Guardians are a 20 strong team of bikers and non-bikers who all have the same interests in helping to support these charities, we now have a branch in Scotland and we have plans for another branch in the New Year.

“Rigby's Guardians meet each Sunday at the Gardeners Arms, Hollin Lane, Middleton, from 6.30pm.

“If you would like to become part of the fundraising team and get involved in the events then drop us a message, we welcome all to our meets.

“We provide free tea and coffee and a hot supper, come meet the team and have a natter and help raise funds for local charities.

“We also host the M60 Ring of Red Ride now in its second year attracting riders from across the country and some as far as Belgium this red is help on Remembrance Sunday.

“Our events are becoming more popular and are open to everybody under 12s get free admission to the family weekender help in august.
