Date published: 14 March 2015

Frances Fielding has been appointed to the role of sales and marketing manager at Rochdale AFC.

Frances will be taking over the role from Iain Johnstone in April following his retirement after seven years at the club.

With over 10 years of experience working at Rochdale Council within economic development, Ms Fielding, who has a BA honours degree in marketing, is a highly skilled professional who is well connected with the business community within Rochdale Borough.

Her role will be to maximise commercial revenue and sponsorship opportunities for Rochdale AFC, implement a sales and marketing strategy and grow the fan base.

Colin Garlick, Rochdale AFC Chief Executive, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce this appointment.

"Although Iain’s departure will be a great loss to the club, it gave us the opportunity to review the current job role and responsibilities.

"Frances was an exceptional candidate and will bring a new skill set and energy to the position. She will be pivotal to a change management process within the organisation and a key member of the Senior Management Team.”

Graham Rawlinson, the club's Commercial Director, also commented on the appointment: “Frances was able to convey fresh, creative ideas to the way we currently approach our sales and marketing strategy and her business connections will enable her to hit the ground running and strengthen the commercial arm of the club. She will be a valuable asset to our sales and marketing team.”

Ms Fielding said: “I am thrilled and excited to be taking up the post of sales and marketing manager. My first priority is to work closely with the supporters and local business community to maximise commercial income streams and re-position and market the club at a whole new level.

"The board of directors have ambitious plans to grow the club both on and off the pitch and I am ready to take on the challenge and honoured to be joining Rochdale AFC.”
