North and Pimm steer Norden to comfortable win in Tom Hardman T20

Date published: 07 June 2016

Flashing bails were used by Norden for the first time on Friday, but the real sparklers on the night were Simon North and Steve Pimm who steered Norden to a comfortable home win over Micklehurst in the Tom Hardman T20.

North hammered 78, his knock including eight fours and five sixes, as Norden piled up 185 for six.

Hashum Malik hit 23, Michael Price scored 31, and Rehan Udwadia mustered 37.

Micklehurst’s reply saw two wickets down with only 10 runs scored, and skipper for the night Malik then turned to bowlers who might not have got a pitch had it been a closer game.

Udwadia picked up one wicket, and Teeno Saeed, on his senior debut, went for only 20 in his four overs.

The surprise packet was Steve Pimm who took four for 29 in his four and showed he is well good enough to be added to Norden's armoury of front-line bowlers.

North and Pimm apart the other highlight was provided by Nick Fairchild who, with only one stump to aim at, brilliantly run out one of the Micklehurst openers.
