Bamford Fieldhouse through to quarter finals of the ECB national knockout

Date published: 13 July 2016

Bamford Fieldhouse Cricket Club have made it through to the last eight of the ECB national knockout (cup competition entered by all cricket clubs in the country).

Greater Manchester Cricket League side Bamford progressed by winning an all-Lancashire fixture away at Longridge CC.

Ex-Lancashire and England International Warren Hegg top scored for Bamford Fieldhouse with 50 as they reached 195 for nine.

Ian Simpson was the standout Longridge bowler with figures of 4-43 from his nine overs.

Luke Platt shone in the Longridge reply with 75 from 71 balls but only two of his team-mates scored more than six as some excellent Bamford Fieldhouse bowling restricted the hosts.

William Purser, Abid Awan and A Ahmed each took three wickets as Longridge were dismissed for 141.

Ormskirk CC will make the journey to Bamford Fieldhouse for the knockout stages following their 85-run win over Wolverhampton CC in a rain-affected match that was reduced to 34 overs per side. Batting first, Ormskirk scored 200 for nine, with Michael Jones top scoring on 61. Wolverhampton struggled in their chase and were all out for 115, Jamie Barnes the pick of the hosts' bowlers with figures of 4-21 while Tom Hartley took 3-43.

The quarter final tie is scheduled for Sunday 31 July versus Ormskirk Cricket Club at Hollin Lane, the home of Bamfird Fieldhouse CC.
