Kate Bennetta wins award at Premiership Rugby Volunteer of the Year award finals

Date published: 18 July 2016

Kate Bennetta won the regional award at the Premiership Rugby Volunteer of the Year award finals.

Though she missed out on the top spot, Ms Bennetta says she will never forget the once in a lifetime day at the House of Commons where the finals took place.

Ms Bennetta is the director general behind Littleborough Rugby Club’s junior set up, providing numerous children with room for development in a fun environment.

Alongside working with children in Littleborough, Ms Bennetta works across the North West co-ordinating and facilitating rugby through the county rugby scene.

She also works closely with professional outfit, Sale Sharks, which nominated her for Volunteer of the Year.

Ms Bennetta said: “I am immensely proud to be awarded the regional award at the final.

"I couldn’t do all the things I do without the support of my husband, Lee, and my twin boys, Jack and Sam, who sometimes take a back seat when I am heavily involved in projects.

"We [Kate and Lee] were escorted through Parliament and out onto the Pavilion Terrace overlooking the Thames; it was a really beautiful setting, especially as the sun was shining.”

A spokesperson for Littleborough Rugby Club said: “It is a nomination richly deserved for a wonderful year.”
