Norden in 'amazing' win at Littleborough

Date published: 08 August 2016

Norden supporters felt their team achieved an amazing win at Hare Hill on Saturday, but many Littleborough fans felt it was nothing short of a disaster.

With the news having filtered through that league leaders Walsden had gone down it looked sure that Boro would end the day on top of the table.

Chasing a modest target of 128 they were dismissed for 124.

Boro’s reply saw them with four down for 38, but Chris Schofield and Michael Burns took the total up to 93 before Schofield edged Martin Smith to Ash Gowers behind the stumps.

Burns went the same way, but with only 14 more needed and four wickets in hand Boro still looked favourites.

That was until Nick Fairchild was introduced to the attack, and he mopped up the tail.

It might well have been all over for Norden had Martin Smith not scored 34.

Jack Harrison made his senior batting debut and scored 14.
