Muavia Nasim on challenge phase of England Talent Pathway

Date published: 26 August 2016

Muavia Nasim has been placed on the challenge phase of the England Talent Pathway.

The programme, which is designed for the highest level boxers coming through the England ranks, aims to give youngsters the best possible chance of succeeding in their chosen path.

Nasim’s head coach, David Hodkinson at Queensway ABC, said: “From the first day Muavia walked in to the gym as a complete novice, we knew we had something special on our hands. We really had to step up a gear and educate ourselves at a rapid rate.

“He went from no fights straight to an open class England boxing championship final, narrowly losing out to last year’s champion and current England boxer with a record of 33 wins from 35 fights.

“As a coach, me and my team work around the clock to give the boxers exactly what they need – be it sparring or more specific strength and conditioning."

The team works with strength coach Andy Lavery from Apocalypse training systems.

Hodkinson has also recently secured a deal with Bolton-based company Tailored Gains, who will provide all of Nasim’s pre-packed meals tailored to suit his training programme.

He added: “Nutrition is probably the most important aspect of a growing athlete, and this deal is therefore paramount.”
