Pennine Cricket League’s Results

Walsden won the first JW Lees Pennine League Premiership title on Saturday when they comfortably defeated Greenfield at Scott Street.

The Championship trophy went to Heyside who will be promoted along with runners-up Stayley.

Milnrow face a play-off against the team which finished third from bottom in the Premiership to decide who will play in the top flight next season.

Milnrow have finished third in the Championship and rounded off their league programme with a 10-wickets win at Uppermill.

  • Norden v Friarmere – Friarmere conceded

Second XI Championship: 

  • Milnrow 78-2, Shaw 74; Moorside 232 (Ali Raza 43, S Barlow 4-50), Uppermill 81
  • Oldham 75-8, Royton 74 (Hamzah Sajjad 6-37)

Denton West won the LWC sponsored LCB Knockout final when they defeated Farnworth in a superb final at Middleton CC on Sunday.

Farnworth batted first and totalled 189. Imran Mirza scored 53.

Denton’s reply looked to be going nowhere at one stage and Farnworth looked favourites.

John Barnett played a brilliant innings to edge Denton closer to their target. Liam Kilburn blasted 38 and Denton were in sight.

Only three balls remained when a boundary gave Denton the trophy.

Barnett, who finished unbeaten on 62, was named as man of the match.
