Hockey: Formby Mens 4 - 1 Rochdale Mens Seconds

Date published: 01 March 2017

Rochdale Seconds were without key players, in particular midfield talisman Imran Ansari, and it showed as they were well beaten by Formby on Saturday.

For most of the first half Rochdale looked lost and switched off.

Formby have been in the top three all season and didn’t need asking twice to take advantage; and by half time had a three goal advantage

Rochdale showed much more fight and commitment in the second half, pulling a goal back through Arron Hunter.

Tempers frayed and Karl Wynn was shown a green card for arguing with the umpire after a stick tackle on Bjorne Brauns.

Despite the reinvigorated approach to the second half, it was too little too late and the damage had already been done.

Rochdale Captain Karl Wynn said: “It was another tough day for us today.

"We have two league games left and we should have a full squad to choose from. Our aim now is to finish with two wins out of two.”
