Thornham CC 1st XI through to the GMCL Championship cup final
Thornham CC are through to the GMCL Championship cup final following comprehensive eight wicket win at Ashton Ladysmith.
A season's best performance from Ryan Fletcher eased Thornham CC through to the final.
The young Australian struck early removing both opposition openers in quick succession before returning to mop up the tail with season best figures of (8-3-11-5).
He was well supported by the four other Thornham bowlers who all took wickets to tie Ashton Ladysmith to a below par 72 all out from 41 overs.
Ashton Ladysmith took early wickets of Heywood and A Micklethwaite, but the chase was never in doubt thanks to the ever reliable Tom Sargeant (21 not out) and a timely return to form for Matt Micklethwaite (28 not out).
Thornham now face Bolton based Dean and Derby CC in the final in four weeks time, venue to be confirmed.
