Rochdale Under 15s rugby player, Serena Cape, will be playing for Lancashire on Sunday 3 December at the Lancashire versus Northumberland match.
Serena is the first girl from Rochdale to play for Lancashire, and she is the first ever representative to get the Lancashire shirt.
Serena plays number eight for Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club and Lancashire. This will be her third game of 2017 with the Lancashire team before a Christmas break.
Serena said: "I have always enjoyed physical sports. I used to do judo and was the North England Judo Champion.
"My two brothers have always played rugby and girls I knew at school, but I only started around nine months ago.
"The trials for Lancashire were in the late summer, sometime around August or September. My first match was against Cheshire where we won but we lost our second match against Yorkshire.
"Playing for Lancashire is helping me get better at rugby because there is a lot of development opportunities and programmes I can take part in.
"I am hoping to carry on playing for another few years so maybe one day I could even play nationally for the England rugby team.
"Even though the girls on the Lancashire team are picked from dozens of teams across the region I feel very welcomed and everyone is nice and friendly. I just like the fact that we are a team and always have to use teamwork.’’
This weekend’s match is at Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club with a 2pm kick off.
