Boxing: Knock out victory for Monir Miah

Date published: 15 March 2018

Monir Miah, 17, from Hamer Boxing Club kocnked out Jorden Mckay of Majestic Boxing Academy at The Rose Club in Wigan on Saturday.

From the opening bell Miah showed his intent when he landed a right hand on the chin of McKay which clearly hurt him.

From there on McKay was on the back foot looking for ways to escape Miah's heavy punches.

Miah began to press McKay on the ropes unloading powerful punches to both the body and head to win the round.

Miah came out for the second round looking for a knockout blow but McKay evaded his wild swings whilst countering with his jab and right hand before finding his distance again.

Miah had a little success when he manoeuvered Mckay back on to the ropes to land his punches but the Majestic boxer was clever in making him miss before landing his own blows.

The contest was in the balance leading into the third and final round.

The bell rang for the final round and Miah immediately landed a crushing right-hand which instantly floored his opponent.

The referee administered a standing eight count to McKay who climbed back to his feet but was still clearly hurt, but bravely held his hands in the air to indicate to the referee that he was okay to continue.

The referee stepped aside and allowed the bout to resume and Miah stepped forward to unload another devastating punch which loored his opponent again and gave him the victory by knockout.
