Cricket: Norden crash out of LCF Knockout

Date published: 12 June 2018

Norden crashed out of the LCF Knockout on Sunday beaten heavily by Roe Green at Stag Park.

They managed only 114 runs in a batting performance that was disastrous.

Leading scorer Josh Tolley was given out caught behind without a run scored, after deliberation by the umpire.

Harvey Fitton and Dominic Humphreys started to build a base and took the score up to 76 before Fitton, in trying to play a shot, overbalanced  onto the wicket.

Fitton had scored 37, and Humphreys quickly followed him for 32, caught between mid and long off.

It was downhill all the way from then on with wickets tumbling to a mixture of spin and pace.

Six of the remaining batsmen were caught, the innings closing when wicket-keeper Gatenby-Brown ran to mid-wicket to take a catch as a skier from Malik dropped.

Cooper and Birch saw Green to 100 before the latter was caught by Dominic Humphreys for 38.

Cooper finished unbeaten on 56 and Kenyon quickly rounded it off with four boundaries.
