Cricket: Miserable weekend for Norden ends with third defeat

Date published: 18 June 2018

Having gone out of the Worsley Cup on Saturday, and being beaten by Ramsbottom in a T20 match on Friday, it didn’t seem like Norden’s weekend could get any worse, but it did, as they were bowled out for only 75 by Walsden in a league match on Sunday and eventually lost by eight wickets.

Opener Josh Tolley hit 20, but only two others got into double figures. Dominic Humphreys scored 10, and Lee Crabtree scored 16.

Jamie Shackleton took the wickets of Norden’s top five batsmen for 38 runs before Umesh got in on the act with his three for eight.

Norden managed to pick up the wickets of both Walsden openers – one of them falling to the bowling of Steve Pimm who had not turned his arm for many a match.

Norden were never really in it.
