Football: Andy Cannon signs new Dale contract

Date published: 02 July 2018

Andy Cannon has signed a new contract with Rochdale Football Club. Out of contact this summer, he has put pen to paper on a one-year deal.

A product of Dale’s Academy, the 22-year-old signed his first professional contract in 2014, and has gone on to make 112 senior appearances for the club since then.

His season was cut short during the 2017/18 campaign due to a fractured cheekbone, but he is fighting fit and can not wait to get started in pre-season.

He said: “I have fully recovered, so I’m good to go, and I can’t wait for the new season now!

“The club holds a special place in my heart because it has helped me become the player I am today. I have definitely learned a lot from the people here - the staff and the players. I have been here a few years now and I have enjoyed every season.

“We have got a strong group here and everyone’s happy so, I am looking forward to getting back with the lads and doing it all again this season, as we look to achieve good things.”

Cannon completes a clean sweep for manager Keith Hill, with all five out of contract players, who were offered new deals at the end of the season, committing their future to the club.
