Rochdale Hornets Foundation to host more wheelchair rugby taster sessions

Date published: 01 December 2022

After the success of this year’s Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup, Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation will be hosting another taster session with a view to increasing participation in the sport next year.

As part of the most inclusive Rugby League World Cup to date, the wheelchair tournament captured the imagination of the country with the England team lifting the trophy after beating France in the final earlier this month.

Over 5,000 people packed into Manchester Central to watch the final with hundreds of thousands more watching the BBC’s coverage, both of which have thrown the sport into the mainstream.

On Tuesday 13 December between 7 and 8pm, the foundation will be holding its second taster session at Rochdale Leisure Centre with the session free to attend.

Wheelchair rugby league is the most inclusive sport of all, with play open to able-bodied and disabled participants and men and women both able to play in the same team.
