British Jiu jitsu champion from Rochdale strikes again and wins European competition

Date published: 08 December 2022

Andrew Perez, aged 11, competed this weekend in the International BJJ federation European’s championship and won all three of his fights.

The event was held at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Dublin and is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world for kids.

Andrew was able to win all three of his fights by submissions, putting on an outstanding performance against top fighters from across Europe.

The Holy Family RC and CE College pupil has found a great balance between his studies and fighting as he continues to achieve high marks at school and get positive feedback from his teachers.

Andrew and his brothers train at Predators MMA Academy in Manchester under his coach, Ashley Southworth, who’s been pushing them in their development to becoming the best versions of themselves.

Andrew's dad, Carlos, said: "Andrew is very proud of himself and over the moon with the results. Ashley has been a great support and push in Andrew’s development and is helping him to become the best version of himself. The boys can’t thank their coach enough for the outstanding teaching which is helping them to become not only stronger and better but also more resilience and stronger mentally.

"Thank you to the boy’s coaches that have play a great role in their sport development and are helping them to reach very high levels of performance. We also want to thank their Sponsors RAINE Clothing ltd and Fight Club Physio for all their support."
