The sailing club season at the lake has always ended on the second Sunday of December. Those who went to the lake on 11 December found no wind and plenty of ice so sailing was not possible. Instead, the racing buoys were collected and put into storage until required again in March. Activity will continue in other ways during the winter.
A few boats were out on the previous Sunday, but some found it too cold to continue racing.
Usually by this time of year, the lake level would be restored to full capacity but that is some way off. Hopefully, there will be enough winter rain to fill the lake during the close season.
