Mayfield youth teams sponsored by Hive Homes

Mayfield Rugby Club has struck a sponsorship deal with housebuilder Hive Homes.

Hive Homes, a partnership made up of socially-minded registered housing providers from across Greater Manchester, is currently building its Weavers Fold development off Nixon Street, just a stone’s throw from the rugby club’s Keswick Street ground.

The sponsorship deal will see Hive Homes becoming the primary sponsor of the U18s youth team, while supporting other elements of the club too, including all 13 youth teams.

Ed Milner, Hive Homes’ managing director, said: “We are delighted to be able to sponsor Rochdale Mayfield Club and the U18s team, helping them towards future successes.

“The club does incredible work in the community and as soon as we realised we could almost see the ground from our new Weavers Fold development, we knew we had to get involved. As a developer, we try and make the neighbourhoods we work in better, both in terms of providing great homes but also helping to support great local initiatives.”

Mayfield director Leon Ashworth said: "Ed was welcoming from the beginning and was keen to open dialogue about how Hive could support the club and the wider community.

"Hive had no hesitation in getting behind what we do at Mayfield and has become the main sponsor for the youth kit at all ages; we have thirteen youth teams so that is thirteen full kits. That is a big expense for the club to cover every year.

"The fact that Hive have done this for us cannot be underestimated, it is huge. They have also placed some signage at the club and provided us with new post protectors.

"We are looking forward to working more with Hive in the future as their contribution to the club has been massive and is in turn helping us promote our great game and sport in general throughout the wider community as well as giving us a platform to develop our club at youth level including the girls’ teams we now run.

"Everyone involved at Mayfield would like to say a massive thank you to Hive Homes for their contribution; we honestly could not carry on as we do without the support and generosity of these companies."
