New ladies bowling club formed in Milnrow

Date published: 16 April 2023

A new crown green ladies bowling club has been set up at Milnrow Memorial Park.

Milnrow Memorial Park Ladies welcomes women of all ages, and offers them the opportunity to meet local like-minded women, irrelevant of age, creed, colour or religion.

The group has been sponsored by P N Daly Ltd (embroidered fleece jackets), Kia Motors Rochdale (polo shirts) and Grace Foods (polo shirts).

Jill Highton, of Milnrow Memorial Park Ladies said: “Everyone knows any form of exercise is good for your health, no matter how gentle it may be. If you are participating in a team sport, such as crown green bowling, it helps to improve your social life too.

“This sport of ours contributes to all round happiness and well-being, improves confidence, helps make new friends, and gives people chance to meet like-minded people and gives some a purpose. It is local and most importantly, it’s fun, friendly and inclusive.

“Thanks to all who have facilitated our formation of a Ladies Bowling Club at Milnrow Memorial Park. Special thanks to Irene Davidson for not only agreeing to open our first season, but for supporting the local community and aiding our use of the facilities.”
