World championship wins for all three Perez brothers

Date published: 13 July 2023

Rochdale’s Perez brothers cleaned up at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Junior World Championship in Wolverhampton on Saturday 8 July.

All three brothers – Andrew, Collin and Ethan – secured gold medals in their categories in another successful weekend.

Eldest of the trio Andrew managed to finish all his fights by submissions, displaying an outstanding performance against some tough opponents before winning two gold medals: one for No Gi and one for Gi.

Pleased with his performances, the Holy Family RC & CE College pupil said: “It was another great experience for me and my brothers fighting against great competitors, we have been training very hard to get to the highest levels possible.

“For this, we want to thank our coach Ashley Southworth and all our teammates at Predator’s Academy for pushing us to our highest limits.”

Collin and Ethan, both pupils at St Vincent's RC Primary School, said that they too were happy to be back on the competition mats and ready to take on more challenges in their sport career.

Their dad, Carlos, added: “We want to thank their sponsors RAINE Clothing Ltd and Fight Club Physio for all the support towards the boys and also our local councillors Rachel Massey and Ali Ahmed for always supporting the boys.”
